Why choose a pirate treasure hunt on the island Plavnik?
Overview
Who doesn't love stories about pirates, their treasures and their adventures? On this trip, you will learn an intriguing Krk legend about pirates.
According to this legend, in 1524, pirates robbed a rich trading galley near the uninhabited islet of Plavnik. The prince's guard in Krk noticed the smoke of the burning ship and managed to intercept and sink the pirate ship. Only one pirate managed to survive the ship's sinking. The only surviving pirate buried the most valuable valuables from the merchant galley on the islet Plavnik and then disappeared without a trace.
After several years, a mysterious stranger came to the town of Krk and asked for a boat ride to Plavnik. The same Prince's guard from the city of Krk found out about this and suspected that it might be a runaway pirate and went in search of him.
However, the pirate also managed to escape this time. In his haste, he only left behind a mysterious map with instructions for finding the treasure on the islet Plavnik.
The pirate treasure from Plavnik has not been found to this day. Maybe you will find it on this interesting excursion. In any case, we guarantee that you will find very interesting natural attractions of Krk and Plavnik on this excursion and have a great time.
A picturesque wooden motor sailboat will take you on this excellent and fun family trip.
After setting sail from the port of Krk, the captain will introduce you to the legend of pirate treasure on the neighbouring uninhabited islet of Plavnik.
We sail along the picturesque coast of Plavnik, on whose steep cliffs griffon vultures nest, and with a little luck, you will also see vultures in flight. This fascinating, rare and protected bird species will amaze you with its large wingspan and elegant flight - vultures fly without flapping their wings - they sail using air currents like air gliders. Along the habitat, we sail slowly and carefully to avoid disturbing the vultures.
Then we reach the famous Blue Cave, which got its name from the abundance of shades of blue colour - the sea plays with the rocks of the cave, creating a real spectacle of countless shades of blue...
This cave is also known by other names, like Love's Cave and Pirate's Cave. Who knows, maybe this latter name is one of the clues...
The cave is reached through a narrow natural tunnel, and apart from its blueness, the cave is also specific for its open vault.
Our sailboat will anchor about 10 m from the cave, so that you can explore and enjoy its blue beauty. It is planned that the swim break for bathing in the cave lasts about half an hour.
After visiting the cave, we sail on to the islet of Kormat, where an interesting sight awaits us - soon the colony of seagulls living on Kormat will cover the entire sky above the ship. Seagulls have a fast metabolism and are very happy with ships that always bring them food. In return for food, the seagulls treat the ships with real Instagram moments :)
Our sailboat sails along the picturesque coast of the islet of Plavnik to a secluded cove near the islet of Mali Plavnik. This quiet cove is only accessible from the sea and right there, near where the ship anchors, you can search for and find pirate treasure. Namely, near the place where the ship is anchored, about 5 - 6 m below the sea, there are cannons, amphorae, the remains of a wooden ship and a chest. On board, you can borrow diving masks and explore this very picturesque seabed, extremely interesting for diving and exploring pirate treasures and the fascinating underwater world.
If you just want to swim in a quiet, picturesque bay, a dinghy will take you from the boat to the nearby beach on the islet of Plavnik.
After the end of the treasure hunt, the ship will sail to the town of Krk. Entering the port of Krk is always a special experience and a great opportunity for photography.
Treasure hunting is a very fun excursion, especially for families with children. In addition to the exciting treasure hunt, the fascinating landscapes of Krk and Plavnik await you, swimming in the Blue (Pirate) cave and the hidden cove on Plavnik.
The unique atmosphere is certainly contributed by the motorized sailing boat with which you will go on this unforgettable treasure hunt on the deserted island of Plavnik.
