Why choose swimming and chilling on a trip with a wooden sailboat?
Overview
A motorised wooden sailboat will take you on this relaxed boat trip, which always contributes to a unique atmosphere. In addition to chilling and swimming on the beautiful Lisičnjak beach near Stara Baška, you will also visit the famous Blue Cave on the islet of Plavnik. Another memorable trip attraction is driving along the coast of Plavnik, where Gryphon vultures live.
The departure is from the city of Krk. The view of the city of Krk from the sea is always a great inspiration to immortalise it in a photo. After that, we continue sailing along the green Prniba peninsula and the Punat Bay, where the islet of Košljun is located, towards Stara Baška. Between Punat and Stara Baška are some of the most beautiful beaches in Krk, accessible only from the sea.
The boat will anchor at one of them, Lisičnjak Cove, and you can swim there - for about 45 minutes. Lisičnjak is a beautiful pebble beach, and the bay itself has a sandy bottom. It is ideal for diving, and you will mainly be delighted by the schools of fish often encountered here. Lisičnjak has its unique charm and tranquillity characteristic of beaches accessible only by sea. Along the beach's edge is a small picturesque island, i.e., a rock.
At Lisičnjak, you can enter the sea by stairs, and a dinghy will take you to the shore. On the beach is a small pier on which the dinghy can dock. Jumping off the ship into the sea is also a special treat. Children especially always look forward to it.
After a break for swimming at Lisičnjak, the sailing boat takes you further to the islet of Kormat, where the ever-hungry seagulls await you. The boat will slow down there to feed the seagulls. The sight when seagulls surround the ship is always unforgettable. And that, of course, is also an excellent opportunity for photography.
After Kormat and the colony of seagulls, another attraction follows an extraordinary cave, which can only be entered by swimming through a narrow natural tunnel. This cave is known as the Blue Cave; some call it the Love Cave. Due to the sea's reflection on the rocks, countless shades of blue are poured into the cave. The cave has an open vault, and a tree is growing on top of the cave vault.
The ship will anchor about 10 m from the cave. You can enter the sea by the stairs, and of course, you can also use the opportunity to jump. The break by the cave is about 40 minutes. The picturesque Krušija Bay is near the cave, which you can explore during this swimming break.
Then we continue along the western coast of the uninhabited islet of Plavnik, on whose cliffs up to 40 m high griffon vultures nest. Along this part of the coast, we sail very carefully, slowly and quietly so as not to disturb these impressive birds whose wingspan can reach up to 3 m. Vultures are the largest birds in Croatia, an endangered animal species protected by law, and the sight of them is always breathtaking.
And while you sail on and enjoy the sailing boat ride, beautiful landscapes line up in front of you - the coasts of Plavnik and Krk all the way back to the city of Krk.
The captain can change the sailing direction depending on the weather, and we often meet dolphins on this route, so slight variations of the trip also depend on meeting dolphins.
The route of this excursion is extremely attractive, and a ride on a picturesque wooden motor sailing ship built in 1939, which has a vibrant history behind it, is always a unique experience.
Just chill and enjoy ;)
